What is Password
A secret string which is known only to the user and the system which the user
can enter. It is used for identification and authentication purposes. The
strength of a password (and thus the level of security it provides) is directly
related to its length and how easy it would be for an attacker to guess it.
Usernames/Passwords should never be disclosed or shared as this would mean
there is no accountability within the system. A variant is a PIN which is
normally numeric only and is used in conjunction with an authentication token
(e.g. a smart card).
